Improvement of Road from Chamkhar to Dekiling

Efficient road access into the new town area from the Lateral Highway is necessary to enhance the commercial viability of the new township. Therefore, the existing road from Chamkhar to Dekiling has to be widened to accommodate two lane traffic.

Extended Municipal Boundary 

In order to facilitate better management of the urban development activities in Bumthang, the municipal boundary has been extended by the DYT in consulatation with the DUDH to include areas that are presently facing rapid urbanization in the periphery of the existing town (see Fig. 21). The new municipal boundary would start in the north from Norgang Chhu till Garpang and Jalikha village to the south. In the east the Municipal boundary starts from the forest boundary and includes Batpalathang, Gangrithang, till the ridge with a chorten opposite the Chakhar Guest. In the west the municipal boundary strts from the forest boundary and includes Jakar Kahingchawa, Jakar High School area, Nashephay, and Changwa. The areas from Norgang Chhu, inclusive of Norgang and Dawathang to Zangtherpo to the north is designated as Urban Control Zone 1. The areas from Garpang till Garpangthang is designated as Urban Control Zone 2. The areas from Jalikaha village till the ridge till the south of the flatlands (reserved as an domestic airfield) is designated as Urban Control Zone 3, and the areas from the ridge opposite the Chakhar Guest House, inclusive of Kenchosum, Tamshing, Pemasambhawa, Pangri, and Dorjibi is designated as Urban Control Zone 4. The purpose of the urban Control Zones is to ensure that ad-hoc urbanization does not take place before a planned urban development plan is in place.
