| The Paro town plan for phase I
and II which were prepared after the major fire break out in 1984 has been
approved and the implementation of the plan is underway (partly finished).
Almost all the plots are developed in the phase I except for a few plots
and the phase II plan has been revised in 2001 and it is under implementation.
The main highway passing through Tshongdue is under construction for widening.
The work includes construction of median and improvement of drainage and
footpath (up to bridge). The construction of secondary roads and access
roads hasn't started yet. Basically the phase III plan intends to succeed to the concept of the plan for phase I and II. There are some 20 existing buildings within the area which were built in unplanned manner. This became a major constraint as the policy to reduce dismantling of houses which needed special consideration to align roads and plots. There is no structure plan for wide Paro area.
Since Paro is a part of "National Capital Region", long range
structure plan needs to be prepared on priority basis to promote a planned
development on a regional context. |
