There are many big trees on its west bank along the
main highway to Drukgyal Dzong. It is strongly recommended to preserve
these trees in compliance to the Environmental Conservation Policy. On
the other hand it is necessary to widen the road up to 15m ROW for the
future increase of traffic. But it is not advisable to widen the road
towards the river because it is very close to the river at northern part
of the area. So, it has been planned to widen the road towards western
side of the road and keep these trees in the middle of the road and create
a median. Most of these trees are POPLAR trees. It is said that poplar
tree causes allergy. But according to a recent study at University of
Hokkaido in Japan, the pollen of poplar tree is not so harmful in comparison
with other trees which bring severe allergy. But it can be replaced in
future by the Tree of Heaven or China Bead Tree. Unlike the existing Poplar
trees it has no adverse effect on human beings and can grow in any environment. The secondary and access roads have widths of 4m, 7m or 10m (ROW). These
roads are designed to facilitate access to every existing building. Most
of them should be one way road to promote traffic circulation and efficient
management. |
