Local Area Plan (LAP) II in the Extended Area, Bajothang

In keeping with the provisions of the Bajo Urban Development Plan 2002 and the landowners’ submission, the Dzongkhag Administration, in coordination with the DUDES, MoWHS is in the process of preparing a local area plan (Phase II) in the extended urban area at Bajo. Though the preparation of LAP II was initiated in 2006, it had to be suspended as some landownership details and records were inconsistent. Further, there were also complications with respect to the allotment of the planned plots in Phase I. The land records have to be verified and updated to facilitate land pooling exercise adopted for the preparation of the LAP II.

The land records and ground verification is scheduled to begin from 10 January 2008. As the LAP covers a large area and the number of landowners is equally high, the area has been subdivided into smaller blocks and each block assigned a date for verification. Information on block subdivision and the dates for verification are available at the Dzongkhag Engineering Office, Wangue and the Office of the Urban Planning and Development Division, DUDES, Thimphu. The ownership records will be verified against the registration maintained by the Department of Survey and Land Records. The registered plot owners are requested to report along with the ownership documents (lagthrams/ sathram lagkher) at 9:00am to their respective verification blocks as per the dates scheduled. If any plot owner has plot/s in other blocks as well, he/she should bring along the documents of those plot/s while reporting for the block scheduled earliest and apprise the planning team of the same. Please be informed that the Dzongkhag Administration will not be responsible if any landowner/s fail to report.
